6th GRAND MASTERS HOCKEY WORLD CUP
OXFORD, ENGLAND
14th – 24th AUGUST 2012

Invitation and Advance Information

WGMA would like to invite all interested 60 plus veterans teams to participate in the
6th GRAND MASTERS HOCKEY WORLD CUP tournament to be held at the Oxford
Hawks Hockey Club, Oxford, England, from 14th – 24th August 2012.
The England Hockey Board will host the tournament in association with the LX Club and
their organising committee will be responsible for managing the event and liaising with
team managers. Training and the opening ceremony will be on 14th August and matches
will start the following day.
Oxford Hawks Hockey Club is situated three kilometres from the centre of the famous
university city of Oxford with easy access to the River Thames and the beautiful Cotswold
countryside. London is approximately an hour away by train or car.
The World Cup Pools will be organised as follows:
* GRAND MASTERS
Tournament for men aged sixty years or over (born 1952 or earlier):
Division A for ‘National”(1st) Teams
Division B for second teams and non-national touring teams.
*GREAT GRAND MASTERS
Tournament for men aged 65 years or over( born in 1947 or earlier) :
Division A for “National”( 1st) Teams
Division B for second teams and non-national touring teams.
*SENIOR GRAND MASTERS
Tournament for men aged 70 years or over (born in 1942 or earlier).
Division A for “National”( 1st) Teams
Please note that it may be possible for teams having difficulties raising an adequate
side to register up to 2 players who were born two years later than the specified year
for that age group, subject to prior formal approval from WGMA.
N.B. Both the Division B tournaments could be subject to changes, depending on
the number of teams that register.
This tournament will be staged under the authority of WGMA and the matches and
competitions will be played in accordance with the currently approved WGMA
Regulations (Issue 3, 23rd July 2011).

The Registration Fee will be 600 Euro per team, payable into an account presented
in due time by the organisation committee treasurer.

hotels and hockey venue, social programme and other activities will be forwarded to
